Conservatives are careful with the liberty, property, life and values of others. For the next few weeks we're going to take a look at the values piece of that equation. We begin with the issues of color and religious liberty.
Conservatives are Color Blind
Though most races do not face the oppression once so typical to the American reality, dialog on the issue of race relations remains bogged down in drama and deception. A cultural model of victimization has, for decades, been beating the culture of responsibility and reason decisively. That track record of harm has been no less insidious than that of the culture of racism it replaced. Fortunately for us all, the victim culture, like its predecessor, may be reaching the end of its malicious course.
Until the war on poverty of the sixties, for the better part of the twentieth century, black America was advancing at unprecedented levels. Paradoxically or intentionally, the big government rescue efforts of the 'War on Poverty' reversed that course - and black Americans have yet to recover academically, financially, morally, or socially.
The left's successful corruption of the black culture merits specific attention. God may have made all men equal, but cultures certainly have been exempted from his grace. Just as it would be disengenuine to give the stamp of approval to the white culture of racism that once dominated yesterday, it is equally harmful to validate the black culture of victimization that dominates today. Teaching any man to believe his destiny is in the hands of others is to murder that man's soul - that is the new racism and legacy of the liberal lie.

Much of what it passed off as a matter of color is really a resistance to negative cultural influences, character issues, and life choices. If you think back to the moments of your life when color influenced your perceptions, a deeper look may reveal those deeper resistances.
Color was long ago discredited as a worthy measurement of the man. Color, like beauty, is skin deep and merits neither rejection nor worship. Just as the quality of a house is not determined by a final coat of paint, a man's worth rests most surely on his deeper construction.
Any culture that seeks a free pass on accountability for uplifting its own is betraying its membership. Anyone who judges a man by his color is a fool. Anyone who fails to judge a man by the culture, character, and choices he embraces - likewise. True conservatives, not wishing to travel the vanities of the foolish, are always color blind...
Religious Liberty
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution offers that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The substance of that clause is clear to truth seekers - freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion.
"In God We Trust" is on our money and government buildings and "One nation under god" is part of our pledge of allegiance for good reason. America was framed through Christian values by founding fathers who fully demonstrated their sincerity by uniquely opening America's doors to all faiths.
There was no intention, however, that we abandon our spiritual values to make room for those with a differing view. America's religious liberties remain precious in a secular world that would apparently prefer we celebrate materialism and big government socialism as a reliable replacement for heavenly authority.
Many Americans have a trusted relationship with higher spiritual authority. With so many worldly distractions, it's no easy task to remain enthusiastic in that mission. Unfortunately, much of what comes to us from manmade religions conceals a dark core of dogma more about worldly interests than spiritual ones.
TheCandidConservative says - "Freedom of religion does not mean freedom
from religion."
Today, pointing to God, we have Islamist's slaughtering the innocent. We have Catholic leaders, pointing to God, giving pedophile priests a free pass. Christian ministers, pointing to God, are attracting large congregations with comforting words, but ignoring the responsibilities found in the 10 Commandments.
Many faiths speak to a holy spirit said to rest in the hearts of all people. That powerful inner voice can light the way and challenge us to lay aside vanity, fear, anger, greed, and other weaknesses. In today's confused America, the importance of a spiritual compass cannot be underestimated - the freedom to find a needle that truly does point to God deserves our best energies.
In today's America we find the irreligious, with a curious sense of sophisticated enlightenment, bullying those of faith as if we were all children on a school playground. We have certain faiths claiming the moral high ground and the right to blow people up as a conversion tool. Each group is a study in extremes that is repugnant to both the conservative thinker and spiritual searcher.
