America Likes Its Drugs (5-14-10)

Hi, this is conservative candor and I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower...

Between the legal and illegal sources, America likes its drugs. The problem is that our drugs frequently don't like us. Prescription drug use is up and so are the number of deaths and medical emergencies they cause. Between 1999 and 2006, overdoses for pain killers rose 65%. Hospitalizations were up 37% and international overdoses by 130% - so much for legalization. Pain killers are as powerful and dangerous as heroin and cocaine, but even more readily available. In fact the most accessible drug deal in town is the family's unsupervised medicine cabinet. America is continuing its search for happiness through additions to pills, spending, eating, and other consumption based short-cuts. Each and every one leads to a cliff. Parents, employers, families, hospitals, and tax payers are left with the bill for patching up the pieces left at the bottom. Any drug we consume has the power to consume us. On the plus side, drug abusers have the satisfaction of funding high dollar legal drug cartels in America and high violence illegal drug cartels in Mexico.

Hi - this is Dr. Carl with today's candid conservative minute...

Though the conservative movement is blessed with some brilliant voices, it might be time for a drug screen on the studio water coolers. Some of the sharpest minds in the business are increasingly demonstrating behaviors typical to histrionic psychiatric patients. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coutler can blow away the left with their wit and wisdom. More and more they seem to be trying to blow up their polls. Who the heck cares whose number 1? What conservatives care about is cognitively correct perspectives on social, governmental, religious, and other matters that bring us closer to truth. Slapstick comedy, head banger music, and juvenile presentations distract from and damage the essence of the discussion. Leave the polls, slapstick, and hysterics to the guys who are best at it - the leftheaded talking heads. Our important conservative voices need to get back on track with their compelling dedication to reality, reason, responsibility, and right. As has been proven, the polls will then take care of themselves...
